Last March, in a spirit of civil political discourse, I wrote what was for a Democrat a fairly favorable evaluation of Mitt Romney (while supporting Obama).
It has been my practice every four years to pick and reveal what I consider the "least worst" Republican candidate. Why? Because they might win. And for the sake of the nation I'd like as my president someone with the competence to do the job.
This year I picked Governor Mitch Daniels. He dropped out. Then I picked Governor Jon Huntsman. He dropped out. Finally, I settled on Governor Mitt Romney. He just barely made it through the primary.
Now recent events have necessitated my reevaluation of Romney, for his demonstration of foreign affairs incompetence, and what turns out to be a disdain for a rather large segment of the American people.
