What Do You Think of New Look Plans for Hancher and UI Music School?
The Iowa Board of Regents reviewed design plans for a new Hancher Auditorium and UI School of Music.
University of Iowa officials presented artist renderings of plans for a new Hancher Auditorium and music school building. Those facilities were destroyed by the 2008 flood.

Hancher looks pretty futuristic, and the new music building looks like it has an urban feel so it should fit well downtown. Just my two cents.

I'd like to see Hancher from a few other angles.It's not a copy cat of the Sydney Opera House....It doesn't soar like it. It is a futuristic look, but from this view from the river, it does remind me of a little bit of a stack of plates about to slide off of the table....As to the school of music, I'd rather see a less elaborate lobby and get an orchestra pit and a more complete stage space which I understand was a budget casualty.
