(Editor's note: The Readers' Choice challenge is being extended through the weekend with a winner announced early next week.)

Need a photo for an anniversary or a birth? Want to capture your daughter in her prom dress before the big night? Need a photographer for an upcoming wedding?

Well you're in luck, as Iowa City just happens to be full of talented photographers. We wanted to draw some attention to Iowa City's photography options, and our online business directory, by involving them in a head to head poll. To help your favorite photographer win, vote below or leave a testimonial in comments naming the photographer you're writing about, both options will count toward who wins. Please vote just once each day.

If you have a favorite that isn't on the list, let me know in comments.

The winner will receive a certificate from Patch and publicity on the site as the best photographer in a city full of great choices. Any testimonials left during the contest in the comments of this article or as reviews on the photographers are likely to make it in to that final article, even if the business does not win.

After my fiance's dog, Ares, received a diagnosis of bone cancer last year, I knew Dawn from Dewey Street Photo Company had to be the one to take "Farewell, Ares" photos, so I flew her to Utah for the session. Yup, I chose to fly in a photographer from halfway across the country instead of choosing one of the many talented Salt Lake City photographers for the task. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Though Ares has left us, we'll always have the stunningly beautiful images Dawn captured of him. Make no mistake, these aren't your standard pet photos; these are pieces of art that happen to have a dog in them. My vote is ALWAYS with DSPC!

A few thoughts. Wow the response to this has been great so far, I'm liking how it's becoming a good little mini directory to help people find some of the great photographers in Iowa City.

1. For all you participating photographers, please feel free to use our online gallery in this article to showcase and celebrate your work. Your photos will still belong to you, and if you want additional protection for your images, I am more than fine with you watermarking them.

2. Since many of the newer submissions especially are not in our business directory, I've changed the rules slightly from rating the directory listing to emphasizing the importance comments in this article will have in the contest. Not only will the number of the comments play a role in determining the winner I will pull from testimonials when compiling the final article about the contest, and include some of these testimonials even for photographers who do not win.

Thanks.

Julie Staub's career started in the heart of New York City. Together she and I held arts hows in lower Manhattan for several years raising money for charities such as the Gilda Radner foundation and other local organizations in TriBeCa. Julie's eye captures the ordinary and makes it EXTRAORDINARY! Julie is passionate about art! She has an admiration for public art or street art that is documented and showcase through her lens. Hearts follow her wherever she goes and her images of these found hearts are inspiring!

Dewey street..... i have known dawn since ours days working together in undergrad. Several years later when i was looking for a photographer for my wedding i was very pleased to come across her work. It is beautiful and her range in what she can do with a camera is better than most established photographers that i have seen.
