Wake up call: Get out to the Iowa Arts Festival.

Not that I forgot, but the start of Arts Fest on Friday definately reminded me how much fun Iowa City is in the summer. Outdoor live music in downtown Iowa City. Artists from around the region. Patio dining. Great weather. An eclectic row of venders including Oasis and the Wedge.

Plus, for me, listening to Greg Brown live on stage will help make this year's festival stand out. I don't recall seeing so many people packed in to hear the opening night concert.

Greg Brown performed with Bo Ramsey, who also served as an opening act with Pieta Brown and the Pines. The whole crew came out for a This Little Light of Mine encore that I wish I had recorded.

Here is more of our coverage of the festival and here is a link to the schedule. The festival continues all day today and through Sunday afternoon.

Funny how the mind works. The song This Little Light of Mine just came on and I suddenly remembered that is the song Greg Brown and friends played for the encore last weekend, not You Are My Sunshine. I changed the story to reflect it. Either way, it was still a blast.
