An Iowa City woman was charged with child endangerment with injury last week after her 22-month old son was admitted to the hospital with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit for an adult.
Police say Natasha Rachelle Kriener, 26, of 2018 Waterfront Drive has primary custody of the child. On Feb. 15, the child had allegedly been her care all day when the child's father came to pick him for visitation. The father then reportedly took the child to the hospital after the child appeared ill, and lacked balance. At the hospital, it was determined the 45-pound child had a blood-alcohol content of .097. The child was kept at the hospital for observation.
When questioning Kriener later that evening, police said she gave conflicting reports of what had happened. She also allegedly tested at a .251 blood-alcohol content.
According to the complaint, police spoke with the child's sibling, who told them that the child had "drank pop and got sick."
