Iowa Running Back Johnson Dismissed from Team
A series of arrests in the past week led to Johnson's departure from the program.
Another Iowa Hawkeye running back has departed prior to graduation.
Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz announced on Wednesday that sophomore running back De'Andre Johnson would be dismissed from the team after being arrested twice in three days last week.
"I am disappointed that things didn't work out better for De'Andre," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement. "We wish him all the best moving forward."
Here is a link to Johnson's profile on Hawkeyesports with info on his limited amount of playing time so far. Johnson's departure further depletes an already depleted running back position at Iowa, that has seen players leave due to transfers, injuries, and arrests.

I will never understand why athletes with so much talent waste their potential in engaging in acts they know are illegal. Apparently, college coaches and professional coaches don't want criminals amongst their ranks. With so much talent available, why should coaches give someone so self-destructive the time of day?
What bothers me is that if you're as athletically talented as someone like Michael Vick, who tortured and executed dogs who didn't win fights, you can still play. I'm sorry, but there are some things you can't just say "sorry" for and go on with your life. It isn't decent, and my husband -- far more of a sports fan than I am -- says that Michael Vick gets harder hits from other athletes who love dogs and despise Vick.
