Iowa Running Back Binns No Longer on Team

A minor clothing theft got a former University of Iowa Hawkeye walk-on into some trouble this week.

It was reported on Monday that University of Iowa reserve running back Marcus Binns had been arrested for theft after allegedly switching the tag on a shirt to a lower price before purchasing it.

The charge was fifth-degree theft, a minor misdemeanor equivalent to shoplifting.

Today, University of Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz released a statement declaring that Binns has been off the team due to injuries since the spring. Binns was a walk-on running back low on the depth chart before leaving the team.
