Iowa City School Board Elections: Where and When to Vote.

Patch has you covered on the essential information you need to know to cast your vote in tomorrow's school board election.

 

Polls open at 7 a.m. in Johnson County and stay open until 8 p.m.

Click here to find your polling place. Here is a list of all the voting locations in the Iowa City school district.

You will be asked to choose from four candidates from a pool of eight to fill four, four year seats on the school board. These candidates are:

  • Jeff Alden
  • Patti Fields
  • Jeff McGinness
  • Robert Porter
  • Phil Hemingway
  • Marla Swesey
  • Jim Tate
  • Sally Hoelscher

There will also be two candidates who are vying for one, two-year term. These candidates are:

  • Julie Van Dyke
  • Karla Cook

There also will be a district wide bond on the following question

All Districts: Kirkwood Bond (60% required)

Public Measure Q

Shall the Kirkwood Community College (Merged Area X) in the Counties of Benton, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Linn, Louisa, Poweshiek, Tama and Washington, be authorized to remodel, erect and equip buildings at the main campus and other enrollment locations, acquire a site or sites for use of the Community College, contract indebtedness therefore, and issue its school bonds in an amount not exceeding $46,500,000 for that purpose?

Don't forget to vote in the school board elections today. People were steadily flowing through the polls at City High when I went this morning. Your precinct for the school election may be different from November elections, so you might want to double-check where to go.
