Iowa City Police Looking to Catch hotelVetro Plant Vandal

Surveillance camera captured footage of a woman pulling out plants near Hotel Vetro on the Pedestrian Mall.


Iowa City Police are looking for information on a woman who they say ripped plants out of the planters in front of the Hotel Vetro building.

According to a police press release, on Sept. 7, at 9:20 p.m., surveillance cameras at hotelVetro captured a woman pulling plants out of the planters located in front of the hotel, destroying the plants in the process.

Police say they are pursuing the woman who committed the criminal mischief as part of an overall effort to cut down on nuisance behaviors in downtown Iowa City.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of this suspect. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are confidential, and the caller's identity does not need to be revealed to collect the reward.
