Iowa City CrimeStoppers Offering $1,000 Reward for Info on Thief's Identity

The man is accused of unauthorized use of a credit card.

The Iowa City Police want help in identifying a man shown in security footage that they believe stole a credit card and used it to make unauthorized purchases.

According to a police release, a woman's purse was stolen on Sept. 7 while she attended a party at 230 S. Dodge St. The credit card was then used to make purchases at Liquor Downtown and Mega Bite. Video surveillance from Liquor Downtown shows a man making a purchase with the card.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of this man. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477). All calls are held in strict confidential and the identity of the caller does not need to be revealed to receive a reward.

Message to all would be criminals: Don't do illegal stuff and then go to Megabite! The same camera that caught the cop choker now has this guy's mug on the net. Megabite should be getting a cut of the reward for having such clear surveillance camera footage.

I believe this photo was from Liquor Downtown, but your point is well taken. Some security cameras are certainly better than others.

Why does Walgreens have high def cameras and banks have crappy ones ? Why don't banks install loud school bell-like noise makers that go on when robber leaves the building--everyone would look and to see where they go. My preference would be to have managers just shoot them to save tax money :)
