Charles E. Beaumont, 91, of Westerville, OH and formerly of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23 following a short illness.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, February 1 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-7 pm at Lensing Funeral Home, 605 Kirkwood Avenue in Iowa City, where a rosary will be recited at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Salvation Army or to Mercy Hospice of Iowa City.
Charles was born and raised in Des Plaines, IL He attended The University of Illinois and was called to service with The U.S. Army during WWII and served in France with the Army Engineers till 1946.
Charles married Bernadine M. O'Rourke in 1948 in Cheyenne, Wyoming and moved to Iowa City to work with family at S & S Heating. He later went to work for Procter and Gamble from 1955 to 1981, when he retired to Sun Lakes, AZ. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and golf club, the KC's, and a longtime member of St Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, radio control airplanes, traveling and was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.
He is survived by his sister Marjorie Kindelberger of Sun Lakes AZ, son Bill (Cyndie) Beaumont of Iowa City, daughter Beth Tinderholt (Dan) of Westerville, OH, grandchildren: Steve Beaumont of Des Moines, Lauren Beaumont of Durham, NC, Jack Beaumont of Iowa City, Mike Beaumont of Iowa City, Tim Tinderholt (Sarah Han) of Oakland, CA and Mark Tinderholt (Sabrina) of Westerville OH; and a great-grandson Mason Tinderholt of Westerville OH. Charles is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bernadine, his parents, and his two brothers Robert and Jim.
